Lakes Area Community Television serves as the area’s public access television station providing needed communication and entertainment choices that enrich the communities of Columbus and Forest Lake. Local public access channels are carried on Midco cable channels, LATV 10 and Ranger 20, which air 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
LATV 10 is our local government and community channel that films and airs the City Council Meetings for Columbus and Forest Lake.
Viewers can also tune in to see Forest Lake and Columbus Planning Commission meetings, as well as Forest Lake Economic Development Authority (EDA), Parks, Trails and Lakes, and Airport Commission meetings. Varsity High School Sports and Forest Lake School Board meetings air on this channel as well.
LATV 10 offers a variety of programming including exciting local community events like the Forest Lake 4th of July Parade and the Columbus Fall Festival. Audiences can also watch local religious services, business, environmental, and entertainment shows.
LATV 20 offers a community guide highlighting upcoming events in the community
Station staff professionally create programs with consideration to local viewer interests. Citizens can get training to produce their own programs, along with the potential to share it with a large, local viewing audience.
Lakes Area Community Television is a non-profit organization that operates on a small, fiscally prudent budget funded by franchise fees given by Forest Lake and Columbus cable subscribers of Midco. The station also earns necessary revenue from business sponsorship as well as DVD & video download sales.
Forest Lake and Columbus established the four-member Forest Lake Cable Commission (FLCC) that sets policy for the station. Each city appoints a city council member and citizen representative. The Cable Commission meets bi-monthly on the third Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Forest Lake City Hall. 1408 Lake Street, South. Forest Lake. Meetings are open to the public.

According to the Federal Communications Commission and the Ad Council, public service announcements (PSAs) are announcements "which no commercial charge is made by the broadcaster or by the non-profit organization, government body, or individual providing the message." The purpose of the PSA is to "improve the health, safety, welfare or enhancement of people's lives and to more effectively benefit the functioning of their community."
As a matter of community goodwill, FLCC exercises its best effort to air PSAs from local citizens who reside in our participating cities of Forest Lake and Scandia. These citizens may also represent a local non-profit organization, local government body, school or school district. To define FLCC parameters for PSAs, please note the following guidelines before submitting:
• PSAs may include announcements of community events:
(including but not limited to community festivals, open houses or entertainment) and/or events held to benefit a charitable purpose.)
• Such events shall be open to the public and sponsored by non-profit organizations within the participating cities.
• PSAs may include general information, such as hours of operation or contacts, for non- profit organizations serving the participating cities.
• PSAs shall not include notices or information of a commercial nature whether sponsored by a for-profit or non-profit entity.
• PSAs shall not be political or designed to influence legislation.
• The FLCC has complete editorial discretion to reject any PSAs offered to them.
• All FLCC PSAs, without exception, will be produced by FLCC staff and aired on FLCC community access channels, subject to availability of cablecast time and staff resources.
